AGARTALA, Feb 5 (TIWN): Despite of the introduction of the modified direct benefit transfer scheme for LPG with an aim to curb down the rampant black marketing of cooking gas, black marketers are yet continuing with the illicit crime.

According to the sources report, despite the consumers book their cylinder months ago yet they receive their subsidised cylinder from the yearly quota after two or three month.

Despite of booking LPG Gas Cylinder Refill Booking through SMS people had to wait for long time to collect the cooking gas.

The situation leads the consumers to go for the cooking gas from black market.

In a typical scenario, a customer buys a domestic LPG cylinder from the yearly quota of 12 subsidised cylinders, which is then resold to commercial users or elsewhere at a higher price.

Allegation has been raised by the some of the consumers that despite of applying for home delivery services in the concern agency the consumers had to collect the cylinder from the agency.

And on the month when the consumers do not get the subsidised cylinder on time, they go to collect them by their own.

Despite of several complains to the higher authority, no initiatives have been taken to solve the situation. Therefore, the common people are facing harassment.

On the other hand to meet the need of the LPG cylinder in the State Indian Oil Corporation is going to establish a mega gas bottling plant at Budhjungnagar Industrial Estate in Jirania subdivision.

However, it seems the problem is likely to end with the establishment of the bottling plant at Budhjungnagar.

However, LPG cooking Gas crisis has worsened across the state, forcing the domestic users to hit the streets protesting against the acute shortage of LPG cooking gas cylinders.

Consumers in Agartala are severely hit by the shortage of Liquid Petroleum gas (LPG) cooking gas cylinders over past many days.  As a result, black marketing is on the rise, with consumers forced to buy cylinders at prices ranging between Rs 1,500 and Rs 2,000 a piece.

Long queues of people are seen outside gas agency disturbing the swift movement of the traffic in the road.

Common men are paying almost more than double to buy a gas cylinder. People have been left with no option but to buy the LPG cylinder from the open market by shelling out more money.

Allegedly, scarcity of LPG cylinders continues to haunt consumers, particularly in central locations of the city, and there is no confirmed time when the problem of acute scarcity of cooking gas cylinder will come to an end.
