KAMALPUR, Feb 5 (TIWN): The pathos of the urban life of Kamalpur have been increased in last two decades and this continuous deterioration of the civic life occurred due to the unplanned beautification or decoration of the urban areas.
The urban areas got clumsy enough with unplanned constructions and many open spaces which could be utilized otherwise became confined. Among those constructions the Bus Terminus remained the most significant one.
Under the Centrally sponsored JNNURM scheme, Kamalpur Nagar Panchayat got sanction for a town hall and a three-storied bus terminus. Among those two, the town hall got inaugurated last year prior to the urban bodies’ election while the bus terminus came into operation three years ago. Now, the bus terminus was constructed at the place of the earlier motor stand and TRTC office at the entrance of the Baligaon road.
Now, the huge construction occupied the huge land at the centre of the town. Again it greatly ceased the extension of the town. Even after having huge land at the end point of the bye-pass road some 100 meters away from its present situation, the authority found the present place apt enough. Now, if the terminus would be built near the bye-pass, then the operation of the bye-pass road would be easy.
Further, the auto-rickshaw, e-rickshaw and rickshaw pullers would get newer opportunities of livelihood. But the then authority never felt any need to concern with the needs and demands of the commoners.
The same thing happened in the case of the new office of Legal Metrology department. The office got constructed by occupying an open space at the Court area, which would otherwise be used for different cultural programs. Now the new authority, which got busy in planning newer ways to beautify the town, if would break the prevalent practice or not, remained the question.
