AGARTALA, October 10 (TIWN): Locals of Subhash Nagar Nripenpalli on Friday staged about three hours of protest in front of the lower court demanding for severe punishment after East Women Police has taken the six accused of same family of murdering Purnima Roy to produce before the court.

Claiming with loud voice and hanging banner, the locals of Subhash Nagar Nripenpalli on Friday demanded for strict action against the Bunty Saha, husband of Purnima Saha and her in-laws.

Reportedly, in the five-year duration of marriage deceased Purnima Roy has been beaten up brutally for several times, to bring money from her parent’s house.

Hurt and terrified with the brutal behaviour of the accused husband and his family members, most of the time, deceased Purnima use to visit to her parental house and bought money for them.

However, many a times deceased Purnima use to take shelter in the houses of the neighbour to save herself from the torture of her in-laws.

On the day of incident, deceased Purnima once again came to take shelter in one of her neighbour house on September 25 after she has been brutally beaten by the accused family members to ask her parents for more Rs. 1 Lakh.

The accused family members talked with the parents of Purnima over phone on September 26 and demanded for Rs. 1 Lakh. The accused family also threatened that if they do not bring the demanded amount they have see the dead face of their daughter. Later, when Purnima returned home from the neighbour house, the accused family members have continued to torture her brutally.

On Friday night, the neighbours even heard the cry of deceased Purnima. Next day, the locals had identified smoke all around the house of deceased Purnima and rushed to the house.

Seeing the locals, the accused family members said that Purnima had killed herself.

Even her cruel destiny did not left her to stay safe in her neighbour’s house as well, the accused family finding her out use to beat her brutally even there itself.

Locals alleged that the accused family use to beat her brutally and when the members use to beat her, sister-in-Law and Mother-in-Law use to tie victims hands and legs.

However, agitated locals on Friday condemn the incident and demanded for severe punishment for the six accused family members.
