 NFR gears up for second phase BG conversion work – Badarpur to Agartala

AGARTALA, July 15 (TIWN): If everything falls as per the schedule, people of Tripura will witness BG railhead by March, 2016. As per the NFR (Northeast Frontier Railway) plan, the second phase BG conversion – Badarpur to Agartala will be taken up from October 1, 2015 to March 31, 2016.

NFR have started taking necessary steps to begin the work from the schedule time. Machineries, skilled and unskilled manpower have started arriving said Rajvir Singh, senior official of NFR.

He also informed that at Agartala railway station a second entry point  and thirty railway over bridge ( ROB) and railway under bridge ( RUB) will be constructed in different places from Dharmanagar – Agartala station.      

According the new schedule, the NFR will run Rajdhani Express from Agartala to Delhi once in a week and the one of the fasted trail will touch only three stations- Teliamura, Ambassa and Dharmanagar. The express train will have 18 compartments.

A daily Kolkata bound train will also be introduced after the completion of BG work. The daily Agartala-Lumding Express will continue after completion of BG track and it will go upto Guwahati.

The existing a pair train- Agartala-Dharmanagar and Dharmanagar-Agartala will also be remained in place in the BG route. However, there might a little change in the service in between Agartala and Silchar.

After coming up of BG rail service, the importance of Dharmanagar railway station would certainly go up and keeping in mind of the possible increase in the traffic, the NFR looks set to expand facilities at Dharmangar station.
