Power minister directs to register FIR if caught with hook line

AGARTALA, July 14 (TIWN): Aiming to ensure better power services across the state, Power Minister Manik Dey recently in an inauguration ceremony of power sub-division at Mungiakami under Khowai district directed to lodge FIR immediately if anyone caught with hook line service to their homes.

He also asked the concerned officials of the Tripura State Electricity Corporation Ltd. (TSECL) to play active role restricting illegal hook line power services.

The total number of hook line users must be dropped to Zero,” Dey said. He also said that after disconnecting the illegal hook-lines, if any user shows interest to get power connection legally then the concerned officials have to provide connection instantly.

Electricity department is spending 74 crores of rupees and is gaining only 30 crores resulting poor condition of electricity department, added Dey.

It is to be mentioned here that earlier, in a review meeting, the power minister Manik Dey directed all the concerned officials of Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL) to disconnect all the hook- lines taking legal helps and to lodge FIR in every disconnection case; said the source. The total number of hook-line users must be dropped at zero; earlier said the minister Manik Day in a statement, but despite this tall claim the saga of using hook lines for power connection looms larger in different parts of the state.

Apart, power Minister Manik Dey also launched a new system for immediate registration of the complaint from the consumers and to provide instant remedy of power rated problem to the consumers.   Along with Agartala, the new system will also be launched in 16 other states of the country.  According to this system if a consumer lodged any complaint he/she will immediately get a complaint number. Further, the consumer will receive updates via SMS regarding the progress work of his complain and steps to be taken for the remedy of the problem.                                                                                                                                                                                      

The service will remained open for 24 hours.
