AGARTALA, July 4 (TIWN): Tripura police arrested a militant of Halam tiger Force on Friday from Bogbasa out post area. The militant is identified as Nishanjoy Churae who allegedly intruded in the border area of Tripura in Jarulmura village area, by crossing the Churaibari gate and got nabbed by the Bogbasa police.

Reportedly, on 26th June a group of militants of ‘Halam Tiger Force’ entered to a house of a school teacher at Assam Maniklbondo area and made their appearance in public. The militant threatened the teacher of Manikbondo Simtanjoy School of Assam and demanded Rs. 5 lakh to pay within two days. This incident spread panic in the area, resulting chaos Assam, Tripura and Mizoram border area.

Meanwhile, seeing an unknown person in the area on Friday, the members of Ranglung youth organization caught hold of him and dragged him to Bogbasa outpost. Further the accused was handed over to Assam Police.  However, after investigation it was found that Nishanjoy Churae was a member of Halam tiger Force and has illegally intruded to Tripura. However, police is further investigating the case.

Allegedly, the ‘extremists’ activities have started surfacing again in Tripura, reminding the militant violence and deadly ethnic conflicts and destruction of peaceful co-existence between tribal and non-tribal people, with abduction of villagers and construction workers engaged in border fencing work in demand of subscription.

Arrangements should be made to take the initiatives of providing rehabilitation measures for the people who is still now connected with the group of extremism.

Border fencing is not yet completed in different parts of the state due to some controversial issues resulting illegal intrusion of the extremist in the area over past many days.

The genesis, growth and continuance of ethnicity and insurgency in Tripura, is much-more comparing to the other North-eastern states.  It is argued that the problems of ethnicity and insurgency in Tripura have much to do with modern politico-economic processes than with mere ethnic group identities. It is suggested that ethnicity is neither static nor a pre-determined object, but a situational construct. Though based on some real life experience of deprivation, it is other-wise manipulated and mobilized for personal/group-interest and is sustained by political rivalries and state actions.

Police and security force need to work in collaboration with the each other for curbing the crime of extremism from the state for the safety of the dwellers of the state.
