‘No Shortage of Food Stocks in Tripura for Durga Puja Season’ : Food Minister

AGARTALA, Oct 9 (TIWN): Food Minister Sushanta Chowdhury on Monday announced that there will be no Food Crisis in coming days centering the Durga puja festival. Addressing media ahead of Durga puja that will starting from 23rd October, Minister Sushanta Chowdhury said, “There is no worry about food stocks”. Breaking all attempts of artificial food crisis creation attempts which are often attempted by some businessmen group, the Minister clearly told the people via media that there should not be any such allegation of food shortage. Giving more details, the Minister said, “We need 1156 metric tons rice and we have 69,621 metric tons rice stocks, enabling 96 days food supplies".

"In the same way, we have 49 days wheat stocks, 57 days sugar stock and Moosor Daal for 59 days, Salt for 12 days, petrol for 11 days, diesel for 7 days, kerosene for 5 days”, he added.

Also, the Food Minister announced various subsidies for the common men in the Durga puja season, that includes cooking oil. Minister Sushanta Chowdhury said, “These attempts are token of love and CM Manik Saha will inaugurate the festival subsidy, along with a book named “Safeguarding Food Security and Consumers Right, a journey to Progress”.

He said, this book can be used in future as a document for all food related consumers rights and other things.
