Multi-crore MGNREGA scam: Police nab Partha Majumder: Nibash Pal surrenders before SDPO

Agartala, Nov 30 (TIWN): After the SDJM Court, Bishalghar declared the 8 FIR named accused persons into multicrore MGNREGA scam in Bishalghar RD Block as ‘absconders’ on November 26, the police started getting success. According to an official, police today netted one more accused of the scam- Partha Majumder (Junior Mechanical Engineer) from his own house at Brajendranagar while Nibash Pal (Junior Mechanical Engineer) surrendered before the SDPO, Bishalghar, said police.

It seems that all other accused persons involved into this case are hiding themselves in the state. An official statement issued from the SDPO, Bishalghar recently served a deadline of 15 days for surrender to absconding persons failing which the authorities would seize all properties registered under their name.

Barely after 24 hours of the announcement, two accused person of Bishalghar multi-crore scam- Subir Ukil (Work Assistant) and Goutam Pal (Junior Technician) yesterday surrendered before the SDJM court Bishalghar while police yesterday nabbed the another accused Tushar Kanti Sen (Panchayat Secretary) from in front of the Rabindranath Degree College at Bishalghar. All three accused persons were sent to 3 days jail custody by the SDJM court.

The four more absconding persons are: Kishore Kumar Banik (Jr. Engineer), Debaprasad Nandi, Gram Rojgar Sevak (GRS), Mita Malakar (Junior Engineer) and Chayan Nandi (Technical Assistant). Earlier police had netted two close aides of scamster Bimal Chakraborty- Gram Rojgar Sevak (GRS) Shayamal Debbarma and Sarada Debbarma from a ganja (cannabis) plantation at Boxanagar area on November 15, in connection with multi-crore MGNREGA scam of Bishalghar RD block. Recently the High Court of Tripura directed the Investigation Officer (IO) of Bishalghar scam case to appear before the Court with complete investigation reports on January 12, next.
