AGARTALA, November 28 (TIWN): Chief Minister of Tripura Manik Sarkar expressed his displeasure with the ongoing broad gauge conversion work. At present the broad-gauge coversion work is in progress at Lumbding- Badarpur route, and then in the second phase construction would begin from Badarpur-Agartala route. “The State Government earlier demanded to complete the both phases of work together”- Chief Minister stated this while speaking to media persons at Secretariat. Speaking to the journalists, CM told that the State Government is not at all satisfied with the ongoing work.”The work status of the present phase will not be completed within the stipulated time. It may even take upto 2016 to complete the 1st phase. On the other hand, while NFR officials visited State informed that the work will be completed within the next year. However, PMO's sudden cancellation of Modi's visit to State Secretariat being seen as a snub to Manik Sarkar's Govt and corruptions and PM Modi maynot even give any chance to Manik to hear these complaints.

On this matter, Mr. Sarkar told that how Railways earlier predicted that the work will be completed within their tentative date.

Besides that Central Government also raised the issue that due to lack of manpower, some regional disturbances occurred during the phase of work. So, if the Central Government speaks of lack of manpower, how this was made possible? It is to be mentioned here that, Tripura’s railway link between Agartala-Silchar and Lumding had come to a standstill from October 1 when the Northeast Frontier Railway started gauge conversion work between Lumding-Badarpur and Silchar to upgrade the meter-gauge link to broad-gauge.

The Tripura government had demanded simultaneous beginning of the gauge conversion work between Badarpur and Agartala but NF Railway and the railway ministry in Delhi have not yet made their stand clear on the issue. Sources said, the rail line from Lumding to Agartala would remain closed from October to January'15 due to conversion of railway track from narrow gauge to broad gauge.
