AGARTALA, March 21 (TIWN): 10323 teachers who cancelled protest before Education Office due to Corona-Virus alert said that they will start hunger strike and if Govt doesn’t do anything before 31st March then they will die in hunger strike. Talking to media, a teacher has broken down in tears saying that they will give their lives sitting in hunger strike, but why the Govt is doing this with them, their enemy is not the Govt but their livelihoods are at risk ? The teachers came to place a deputation to the Education Director but after talking to the Director nothing was confirmed whether any solution will come out within 31st March or not. The teachers expressed shocks over the Home Dept’s brutal steps of imposing lathi-charge which was warned by police after they gathered before Education Dept office today.

Out of 10323 teachers now 8882 teachers remained and Tripura Govt wishes to recruit them in various posts like Anganwadi Supervisor, Lower Div Clerck, Panchayat Secretary, Agri-Assistant, Store Keeper, Fishery Assistants if Supreme Court permits, such has been claimed by Education Minister Ratanlal Nath.

After a Cabinet meeting on March 19, addressing media Ratanlal Nath said, "The present Govt of Tripura is very much concerned about 10323 teachers. Although their recruitment were under big question mark, but the Govt of Tripura never can deny their dedication and contribution to the Education Sector. A large number of teachers' families with around 50,000 people will be affected if terminated from 1/4/2019".

"Many of the teachers have qualification for other vacant posts. Appointing the teachers in various depts as per eligibility is the only option to deal with the present situation except appointing in technical Group-C and Group-D posts like Anganwadi Supervisor, Lower Div Clerck, Panchayat Secretary, Agri-Assistant, Store Keeper, Fishery Assistants, there are  10,661 posts vacant. IL petition to be filled in Supreme Court to permit Tripura Govt to appoint the teachers whose terminations will be on 31st March", Ratanlal Nath told media.
