AGARTALA, Oct 24 (TIWN): Various Goddesses Durga, Laxmi are being worshipped across state but there is no development of society attitude towards women and dowry, domestic violence have remained as a part and parcel of the society regardless all communities. In Tripura the problem is same since decades. When day to day domestic violence are increasing, role of Tripura Commission for Women (TCW) has been cold just like before. Regular strict warning against criminal minds are totally missing making the Women Commission just a silent spectator and only will interfere if victim urge to the Commission. Along with everyday rapes, molestations, there is a continuous criminal attempt by in-laws families members coming in media limelight but TCW's role has been cold.

On Sunday, a housewife Krishnatara Tripura (45) was killed by her sister-in-laws husband in broad day light, whereas her sister-in-law Santi Rani Tripura was injured critically. The incident took place at Belonia when Santi Rani Tripura's husband Punichandra Tripura was beating her when she came from Durga puja celebration. When Krishnatara Tripura went to stop Santi's husband she was beaten to death.

Another housewife as Keya Malakar, W/O-Sudhan Nama was brutally tortured by her husband and was threatened to leave him but must be after telling the society that she herself is the guilty (not her husband) and poured with kerosene on her body by husband. This incident led her to flee in Durga Puja midnight from her husband's home at East Aralia. It was on Durga Puja night that being drunk he returned home and asked Keya to give food. She offered him food and after half-eating he threw the whole food-plate. After cleaning hands her husband came to her and sit on her legs and when she complained she is hurting, he asked her to leave his home. Being frustrated, Keya said she will leave in morning, but then Sudhan told her that she must tell all of his house and area's people that she loves another man and so she is leaving him. When she disagreed to say so, he poured kerosene on her body, head and warned to burn her.  Then she agreed to do whatever her husband asks her. As her husband was drunk he slept off and she escaped from home in midnight. Later she was hospitalized and public managed media to reach there at GB hospital today.

But when so many crimes, domestic violence are happening, Women Commission is far from  touch. No formal visit, no self-inspection was done even though recently TCW Chairperson Barnali Goswami voiced against 'early marriage' and 'dowry', advising parents to help their daughter to be established and not to deal her as a marriage-material since birth.
