AGARTALA, Sep 9 (TIWN): Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation which is still under CPI-M governed was invited by the State Govt like every year in World Literacy Day and the occasion couldn't spare the cross talking on each govt's achievement and propaganda from the BJP and CPI-M leaders.

It was Mayor Prafullajit Sinha told the BJP Govt to maintain the existing literacy rate of Tripura, which tops with 97 % among all the states of India.

Then Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath also debated with AMC Mayor Prafullajit Sinha who said, the present must focus to maintain the literacy rate of Tripura which tops highest with 97 % in whole India.

Nath said, "I am confused with the term literacy, as whether only to can sign one's name can make him a literate person or not. A person must know reading and must say 2 + 3 = how much ?"

Nath also mentioned Tripura's name at the bottom of the top-listed states of literacy rate, but did mention Kerala's name first.
