AGARTALA, April 20 (TIWN): Unemployment problem is the most crucial problem in Tripura and to overcome the problem has been the most challenging job for any state govt. When Tripura tops in unemployment rate among all the states of India, the JICA project workers who have been working as contractual employees suddenly were terminated only in Tripura, whereas in other states the project has been continuing. After the much protest, it was said that Chief Minister will review the order, but no official statement has been given in this regard yet. While agitating, the JICA workers said, "Tripura's most crucial issue is unemployment. When everybody can not be provided with Govt jobs, thus the projects are many people's last supports. MGNREGA, RD employees' jobs have been extended, for which the state govt has no fund, but when our funds were already sanctioned, why the govt has taken this step it's beyond our understandings".

"If other states are working on the 5th, 6th phase, why after the first phase the project was stopped in Tripura ? We have to go in protest to save our livelihoods as we are left with no other options", the agitators said. Tripura's 638 JICA project staffs who were terminated without showing any cause by the BJP govt have come in massive protest today.

JICA Project Director & CEO G.S.Raju on yesterday issued the termination of the all contractual JICA officers, Livelihood Co-ordinators, Field Felicitators, outsourced personnel from immediate effect from yesterday itself.

At the same time, over 36,000 people who were beneficiary from the project, the whole system has been stopped.

On the 42nd day of the BJP Govt, even though not a single contractual staff was regularized, no new job was created, this termination has shocked the state.

The agitated JICA staffs after termination hit the JICA office, met the Project Director. The terminated staffs also  will meet the Chief Minister Biplab Deb asking him reason behind this unexpected move.
