AGARTALA, April 20 (TIWN): CPI-M's political manipulation is yet successful in saving all prime accused culprits involved in the NHM scam, worth an amount of Rs 33 crores of money. National Health Mission (NHM) scam at Unakoti District which had brought an embarrassment for the Tripura Left front govt, till day due to police's inactive role failed to punish the culprit where at least 17 doctors were allegedly involved in the scam. Talking to TIWN, Congress President Birjit Sinha said, "CPI-M Govt era's scams in NHM couldn't be probed due to Police's extremely intentional negligence in it. Nobody was arrested, nothing was done. High Court before around 2 years ordered police to submit a report within a month, but after that no call came from court also. This case has been totally dumped under files".

It can be noted, that the project Ditector of that time Sandeep Mahatme was immediately tarnsfered from the designation with a surprise. However, the Congress wants, the new BJP Govt should re-open the file as many of former Congress leaders are also in BJP.

Former NHM (National Health Mission) Mission Director Dr. Sandeep N Mahatme filed FIR against 17 Medical officials for direct involvement in the case of embezzlement of money. Later the case was completely handed over to the police. But the same police at Unakoti district once refused to take any case against the scam. FIR is filed against 12 Medical officials of North District CMO office and 5 Medical officials of Unakoti District CMO office including Former CMO Unakoti Dr. Dilip Das, Present CMO Dr Alak Dewan, Dr Subhas Barua, Dr. S.N. Chaudhury, Dr. Debashis Talapatra.

"They all were CPI-M's thieves and we demand the new BJP-govt must take action against this case and similar cases, which are now dumped under files", Birjit Sinha told TIWN.
