BJP unhappy with Tripura Police's role : Party gheraos 50 Police Stations across state with 50,000 agitators

UDAIPUR/ DHARMANAGAR / AGARTALA, Dec 5 (TIWN): Opposition BJP has come in mass agitation on Tuesday in CPI-M ruled Tripura and gheraoed at least 50 police stations of each subdivisions as a part of reaction against deteriorating law and order situation, alleging police's total failure in curving crimes. State BJP President Biplab Deb sitting in front of West Agartala Police Station said, "Tripura Police is not working as per the constitution. CPI-M is killing BJP activists, raping our supporters just because they are not in CPI-M but police should do proper investigation an arrest the culprits. Unfortunately, nothing is being done by the police, except benefiting CPI-M. Tripura Police is working as per Melarmath's direction. So, as a reaction of our agitation, we have gheraoed various police stations in state". Across Agartala, Dharmanagar, Udaipur, Amarpur, Belonia and various other subdivisions pictures of agitations are coming.

In Udaipur the protest was led by MLA Pranjit Sinha Roy, Prasenjit Chakraborty whereas at Dharmanagar MLA Biswabandhu Sen remained present and at Agartala MLA Asish Saha, Sudip Barman, BJP President Biplab Deb took leading roles. Prasanta Podder, Yuba morcha President had led the gherao in Amarpur.

Tripura BJP's gherao of 50 police stations in Tripura on Tuesday was announced yesterday, as a part of 'protest' against CPI-M sponsored pre-poll violence and BJP activists chronological murders all over the state. Addressing a press conference BJP spokesperson Ashok Sinha said that it's quite surprising that even after multiple murders, ongoing violence in the state which left without proper investigation, how an MP can talk such violence-sponsoring notes in front of masses ? "Chief Minister's silence is more surprising on this issue. CM is silently supporting such arrogant, violence-promoting speeches", said Sinha.

Being asked by media, how many murders of BJP activists took place in last 1 year, Spokesperson Ashok Sinha said, "Right now, the exact number can't be given but the chronological violence and murders of our supporters have been witnessed by the whole state".  

"Violence is not BJP aim, but violence can be our reaction", added Sinha.
