AGARTALA Oct 10 (TIWN): Tripura Board of Secondary Education has hiked its exam fees more than double which has sparked resentment among the educationalists as the system is slowly driving towards privatization. Earlier in the name of Vidya Jyoti, annual fees were raised to a high level and now the board exam candidates have to pay over Rs. 400. AIDSO staged a protest in Agartala condemning the decision. "TBSE has increased a huge fee amount in 16 sectors, Madhyamik fee was Rs. 120 and now it's Rs. 300. Higher Secondary was Rs. 150 and now it's Rs. 400," said an agitator.
"Marksheet, migration, review --- everything has increased. How it would impact the poor daily working families. Education quality in schools are already so poor, that lacks infrastructure. Instead of focusing on developing the structure, it has hiked the fees. It's unacceptable," he added.
