AGARTALA, Sep 10 (TIWN): The World Meteorological Department, meteorological Watch dog had issued warnings to the north eastern regions of India and Bangladesh as there are visible signs of a tornado (cyclone in south Asian region) building up in the atmosphere. Heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places in Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland and Tripura during next 24 hours.
Chief meteorologist said that the northwesterly jet stream are pushing down the cold wind and clouds to the northeastern parts of the peninsula which normally brings the advancing monsoon to these regions as a normal phenomenon. However, WMD satellite images revealed that the is another unusual wind current forming in the eastern Indian ocean blowing warm winds towards the north which could collide with the jet stream around the northeastern region of India resulting in torrential downpours of rain and possible cyclone with wind speeds up to 160Mph which could easily overturn small cars, uproot tall trees and unsafe buildings.
WMD chief also disclosed that “if in any case this cyclone occurs in this region, it will be a first of its kind in the world that a cyclone actually invaded a mountainous region.” WMD also advised the people to prepare for the worst, stay indoors or find safe structures and stay away near windows until this warning is lifted.
