AGARTALA, Sep 3 (TIWN): Tripura paying for Manik Sarkar Govt's poor planning as clogged drains killed city's sewage system. Recently, when Agartala City had been flooding that led the Chief Minister to travel at Secretariat by hiring a bus, it was said that a ‘Record Level Rain’ has led such a critical condition. But what is the reason of Sunday’s waterloggings, that emerged following Saturday night’s few hours of rains? Chief Minister Manik Sarkar has been announced to continue as the next Chief Minister candidate for Tripura if CPI-M wins. Question raises, whether this year with every rains people gone under chest level water, so by next year what will be the water level after rains. The rivers have totally lost its navigability but there is no attempt to recover the rivers, rather trees have been deforested for the sake of rubber plantation. AMC has not invested a single penny for the water logging problem’s solution leading mass suffering for the public.Resentment have brewed among the Agartala people seeing the condition of the City on Sunday morning.

Markets are disrupted, disruption has come in the movement of people----indeed a massive chaos everywhere.

The water-logging is nothing but a reflection of the corruption indulged by AMC in last few years.
During the Budget counter speech held on June 30, 2016, AMC Mayor Prafullajit Sinha placed vivid explanation about the expenditure from 2015 to 2016 and also placed the budget for the year 2016-17. During the budget counter speech he talked about various projects ongoing and also completed project among which Mayor claimed about the almost completion of JNNURM’s (Jawharlal Nehru Urban Development Mission) Rs. 102.22 crores, which was sanctioned for Storm Water Drainage system.

But in reality there is no sign of proper drainage yet arranged in Agartala city. With a few splash of rain the city dupes into water and water logging till waist, is very common for Agartala City.

Whereas West Bengal, Andra Pradesh, Gujrat, Maharasthra have completed the project long back in the year 2012, Tripura is suffering from water logging condition after every rain-splash.
