Agartala, Oct 8 (TIWN): The police administration is making high security arrangements to ensure peaceful Durga Puja this season. Law and order machinery has been pressed into service with full speed to ensure peaceful conduct of the festival, with additional force to be deployed at several strategic locations.
A press statement was issued by police headquarter on Tuesday stating that around of 3000 additional police and TSR personnel shall be deployed in the State in addition to maintain law and order and to regulate traffic movement. There will be a total of 102 police assistance booths including 22 police station assistance booths and 6 traffic assistance booths at Agartala to render assistance to the people. Besides at all sensitive and important places watch towers and CCTV cameras will be installed to monitor the movement of crowd.
Drop gates have been installed at important roads to prevent entry of vehicles in crowded areas during peak hours. Besides police mobile, foot patrols, anti-liquor raids, surprise checks of hotels and vehicular checking have been intensified
Strict watch is being kept over the activities of anti – social elements. Necessary preventive action is being taken against them. Counter insurgency operations in vulnerable areas of the State have also been stepped up by District Police, TSR, Assam Rifles and BSF through deployment of additional forces.
