AGARTALA, Aug 20 (TIWN): CPI-M undoubtedly responsible for disturbing communal harmony since Nripen Chakraborty, Dasarath Deb’s era which continued under Manik Sarkar’s rule. Dasarath Deb to Manik Sarkar and various CPI-M leaders time tried to insult Tripura’s royal family which was revered by both Tribals and Bengalees since centuries.Tripura’s erstwhile Kings like Birbikram Kishore Manikya always urged for a transparent society for the sake of development. King Birbikram was India’s first leader who thought about ‘Compulsory’ Education at the primary level and it was the King who spent huge to help Rabindranath Tagore during the construction of Santinikentan. How under such a leader separatist thoughts was provoked to believe that Bengalis are outsiders responsible for undeveloped Tripura, the BJP has raised question. The opposition BJP has promised to rename all the smashed names of the Maharaja from various historical places that has been done by CPI-M in its 24 years regime.

The Royal family hater CPI-M worships Dasarath Deb but under Deb’s leadership although ADC was promised to bring massive development but in reality ADCs could only produce ‘Big Eggs’.

Addressing on the occasion of Birbikram Kishore Manikya’s 109th birth anniversary opposition leader Sunil Deodhar claimed, “What Birbikram Kishore Manikya did in his 20 years, Congress and CPI-M couldn’t do in all its regime. By abolishing the Maharaja’s name from historical places CPI-M has accomplished nothing but “Sins”.

The BJP in Tripura also has promised to rename Agartala Airport’s name as “Maharaja Birbikram Kishore Manikya” which was changed by CPI-M Govt.

BJP aims to power the Maharaja’s name as the symbol for Tribal/ Bengali harmonies.

“The Maharaja also wanted to make a guitar like Agartala City construction. Infact his ideas were vast and visionary, but the Congress and CPI-M didn’t accept that plan even”, said Deodhar.

However it can’t be denied that CPI-M hardly talks about the Kings neither the CM mentions about Birbikram’s greatness during his speeches.

Manik Sarkar in his 1992's anti-Bengali statement not only called for Bengali Hindus expulsion to Bangladesh but also demanded inner permit card for Bengalees entering into ADC areas.

Manik Sarkar said, "Tribals who were 70 % of the population, during Maharaja's time have now come to 23 %...the 'Bangladeshi foreigners' have started silently invading the TTADC...if this process is not stopped forthwith the Tribal identity itself will be in danger". This statement was placed by Manik Sarkar before CPI-M state committee on 26th Feb. 1992 that further led by Manik Sarkar saying, "During last 48 months, Tribals got tremendously frustrated because they can not place their confidence on the Govt (Congress Govt), which started an undeclared war against the tribal minorities...".

If the state followed ideology of Bir Bikram Manikya then the scenario of the state would be different.
