Agartala, Oct 7 (TIWN): Puja revelers here can hope of to enjoy load shedding free Durga Puja starting from October 10. Addressing a press meet at civil secretariat here on Monday, Power Minister Manik Dey said that to ensure uninterrupted power supply during puja days, Tripura State Electricity Corporation (TSECL) is arranging 175 MW additional powers from Northeastern states and central pool.
The minister said. “Demand for power will be around 280 MW during the puja, the state will buy 25 MW electricity from Mizoram and 20 MW electricity from Meghalaya to avoid power cut during the puja.” In addition, the State will receive 130 MW from the central pool. Besides the state has own product of 113 MW.
“At present, State own production is 42 MW from Baramura plant, 63 MW from Rokia plant and 8 MW from Dumbur hydro project” added Mr. Dey.
He also informed employees of TSECL will be on duty round the clock during the puja days. In addition there is already an exchange of power agreement with Meghalaya and Mizoram. In return the power purchased from the two Northeastern states during the Durga Puja power has to be supplied to these during Christmas the minister said.
In the run up to Durga puja there is huge activity in terms of restoration of power lines. From 10 to 4PM total shut down in the areas where renovation of lines is undertaken is enforced.
