Udaipur city gears up to celebrate New Year

UDAIPUR, April 12 (TIWN): Festive temperament has gripped Tripura's old capital Udaipur City, better known as City of Temples.

Ma Tripura Sundari temple, also known as Matabai, the main attraction of the City, is also getting decorated & cleaned ahead of Pohela Baishakh.

Udaipur City in King's Era was known as 'Rangamati', is situated in the Centre point of the state, known also as a peaceful City unattached by any border area.

The Bengali New Year to be held on April 15 this year, is expectedly to draw mass gathering in Tripura Sundai Temple like every years.

Lakhs of devotees from the morning stand in rows to offer prayers and 'Bhogs' to Ma Tripura Sundari.

Presently, the Kalyansagar lake at Mata Bari is almost purified and restrictions have also brought against the pollutions in the lake. However, few local people still are seen to wash clothes, taking baths even after Govt provided sufficient water supplies to them.

Among the bad things, the sacrifice of goats or 'bali' is also happened there fluently spreading blood-smell across the temple premise.

Again, on the occasion of Pahela Baishakh and Chaitra Sankranti, lakhs of people regardless cast, creed, religion gather at the temple premise citing example of brotherhood.
