AGARTALA, March 16 (TIWN): Around 100 MGNREGA employees on Thursday organized a massive rally at Agartala demanding to regularize them under the state govt. Following the rally a deputation was placed before Chief Minister Manik Sarkar. According to their demands, in many states contractual workers have been regularized under various scheme, so why not Tripura’s MGNREGA workers would be benefited ? However, survey said that amidst empty industrialization in Tripura, Govt regular jobs till day has been preferable to the public here. Huge competitions are observed for govt job posts in every depts. of the state, as unemployment rate has crossed 7 lakhs already. Again, the job holders can not consider themselves as fully secure due to wrong recruitment policy and massive corruptions in interview board.

Example is 10,323 teachers of Tripura whose jobs are dependent upon a single verdict of Supreme Court, after HC cancelled their jobs in 2014. Such incidents raise the demand of regularization of contractual jobs.

Apart from that 150 lab assistants and other RMSA staffs also lost their jobs but evenafter many protests deputations placed before the Chief Minister they were not regularized, whereas RMSA staffs were regularized across the country including Assam.

Not only irregular appointment, but Tripura MGNREGA scheme also suffers from various corruptions due to various panchayat corruption. Several times Principal Secretary GSG Ayyangar was noticed by the Central Govt but all remained without any affect.

A huge amount of wages are also pending to the MGNREGA workers, In a letter MGNREGA Director Suparna S Pachouri told Tripura Principal Secretary GSG Aayangar that, “……..Supreme Court with case Writ Petitioner (C) No. 857 of 2015, SC has expressed concern about regarding nonpayment of wages”.

The notice further stated that while adequate amounts of funds have been released to states during the current FY with clear-cut direction to clear all the pending liabilities it is a matter of concern that Rs. 203.86 lakhs is still shown as unpaid wages in your State for FY 2015-16 in the MIS of MGNREGA Programme”.

However, either in work completion or in geo-tag NREGA has been contradictory scheme for Tripura. In this condition, when thousands of jobs are uncertain under Tripura Govt and various other issues including Jute Mill employees wages…how far the MGREGA master’s views will be given importance it’s to be seen.
