KAMALPUR, Feb 26 (TIWN): A sheer instance of wastage of lakhs of government money became provident at Kamalpur. The sole gymnasium of the town constructed by Nagar Panchayat almost a decade ago left unused under lock and key for years together. Lack of maintenance turned the once vibrant gymnasium into an glaring instance of administrative negligence.

Almost a decade ago around 2005-06 fiscal, Kamalpur Nagar Panchayat constructed the sole gymnasium in the town. The building was constructed incurring an amount of 10, 00, 0000 rupees. The gymnasium had equipments of 4, 00, 000 rupeed. The youths of the locality and security officers used to throng into the gymnasium in the afternoons.

The youths got a new view of healthy living. But aftet two or three years the equipments started to collapse. One of the cause of the collapse was the lack of any qualified trainer. Besides,the Nagar Panchayat authority never took the matter of maintenance seriously. Hence, the gymnasium collapsed completely and turned into a haunted house as it were bearing the proof of irresponsibilty of administration.
