Agartala, June 24 (TIWN): The main opposition Congress is no longer a political opponent at least in Telimamura subdivision with the century old party failing to field candidates even in the gram panchayat level elections.
In 185 seats of 17 gram panchayats under Teliamura subdivision, the ruling party has already won 50 seats uncontested. The Congress has failed to field candidates in most of the gram panchayats while Trinamool Congress and BJP have fielded their nominees in 83 and 38 seats respectively.
It means, the CPM will fight against Trinamool Congress and BJP rather than the Congress in the upcoming Panchayat elections.
In the last Panchayat elections, the Congress did good in gram panchayats like Moharcherra, Madhya Krishnapur, Uttar Krishnapur, Paschim Teliamura and Paschim Howaibari. But this time, the Congress is in coma after serious two consecutive jolts- Assembly and Lok Sabha elections.
Grass root party workers and supporters are deeply unhappy over the functioning of Sudip-DC led PCC, according to a party leader.
“Congress leader Ashok Baidhya has been ruined the part organization. He is interested in making money rather than strengthening organization”, said an agitated party leader.
Not only in Teliamura block, the main opposition has failed to field party nominees in the gram panchayat level elections virtually giving a walk-out to the ruling party.
Taking the advantage of the vacuum, Trinamool Congress and BJP have been working hard to strengthen the organization keeping in mind of the next Assembly elections.
According to political analysts, if the present trend continues, the Congress will suffer badly while Trinamool Congress and BJP will make a come back in the state’s political landscape.
