AGARTALA, Jan 22 (TIWN): Tripura Governor Thathagata Roy on the occasion of Statehood Day celebration blasted Tripura’s ruling party for leaving its historical places in miserable situations.
‘Unakoti can become equal to Ajanata-Illora, but it has been left in deplorable condition. Before coming in Tripura I didn’t know about Unakoti’s beauty’, Roy said.
‘From Kolkata people go to Uttarakhand, to Himachal but they don’t come in Tripura. The state govt should recognize its drawbacks to cater tourists and take tourism as a serious means which will generate further sources of income for common people’, said Roy.
It’s to mention here that Unakoti hill, literally meaning, one less a koti in Bengali, hosts an ancient Shaivite place of worship with huge rock reliefs celebrating Shiva.
