DHARMANAGAR, Jan 14 (TIWN): There will be hardly any place in Tripura, where MGNREGA scam had not knocked the door of corruption. In yet another instance it was unearthed that in a road construction work done in the year 2015-16 at North Hurua G. P. under Kalachara RD Block massive embezzlement with central funds was held by the local contractors. The central govt funded project’s name was ‘'Construction of C C Road” at Kalachara Bazar under the Work Order No- F.7-13 (A-1) /EE/ RD/ KCP/ DIV/ 2015-16 17956-65/ Dt. 27.02. 2016, with the estimated cost of Rs. 6,46,543.00/- . The work began on 3rd June, 2016 and work completion has been shown on 25.06.2016. But reportedly, massive embezzlement was done in that construction work. Allegation came against the work as the estimated cost which was said as around Rs. 6.5 lakhs under the I/O- of the work Nilimesh Das for 100 meter road with 7 inches side-length, in actual the side length has not been even of 3 inches.

Also it was reported as of very poor quality’s work and incomplete, but in Tripura's RD Dept record book the work has shown as completed. 

Within 6 months of the project the road has been almost collapsed, which created much resentment among the locals there.

Apart from that there are much more allegations raised against this Kalachara block. In last year’s month of July a half completed Kalachara block building showing estimated cost of Rs. 2 crores was inaugurated by Tripura Chief Minister. The block was supposed to be inaugurated in the month of April’2016, but inaugurated 2 months later without displaying any details of the utilization of the funds.Reportedly, the block construction work of Kalachara was started in the year 2013, after laying the foundation stone by Social Welfare Minister Bijita Nath on Sept 2, 2013.Planned construction work was to be completed within 2 years, but after 4 years the work could not be completed by RD Dept due to gobbling of central funds. But till day this work has not been completed so far.

All these similar scams have left the Kalachara block without any development till day. Like Bishalgarh this Kalachara block also as per Govt report draws hefty central funds, but due the corruption held in last years the Kalachara BDOs remained under scanner, but no action has been taken so far.
