AGARTALA, Jan 12 (TIWN): Challenging CPI-M’s anti-digitization policy, Tripura businesses finally proceeded towards a ‘cashless-society’ easing the way of transaction. In an attempt to adopt cashless transaction facility, the Gas-O-Flame agency at Agartala has announced that the customer now can use the debit card while buying cooking gases. Food Director Debashish Bose inaugurated the cashless-transaction machine at the Agartala Office. However, with the attempt of Modi Govt towards a cashless society, it will help further to diminish the massive black-marketing of LPG in Tripura. Tripti Chororia, IOC Chief, Tripura was also present on that occasion. Due to massive black-marketing of LPG, Tripura is facing acute LPG crisis. However, with this move certainly the problem may end in coming days although the service needs to spread across whole state.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had launched the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, which aims to provide five crore LPG connections to women in Below Poverty Line (BPL) households over the next three financial years, at a cost of Rs. 8,000 crore.

But seeing the long lines before LPG agencies in Agartala PM Modi’s scheme remains only as virtual, as acute LPG crisis has hit the livelihood of people here.

Tripura across the year reels under tremendous LPG crisis since few months, which has created much resentment among the common men. The LPG crisis has hit the black-market also. Unbelievable but true TIWN was informed by secret sources that in LPG black-market the price has gone upto Rs. 3000/-. The rate sometimes ups to Rs. 3000/. On the other hand the backlog problem of LPG & generating resentment among the common mass, has hit the cabinet also. Reportedly, already the state govt has written a letter to IOCL-MEA & also demand raised by Tripura Govt. that using Bangladesh land, the LPG should enter in Tripura.

“Over one crore consumers have given up their subsidy, leading to savings of nearly Rs. 2,000 crore per year. This money would be utilised to provide LPG connections to BPL families,” Mr. Modi said at the launch function. Finance Minister Arun Jaitley had, in his Budget speech in February, announced a provision of Rs. 2,000 crore this financial year to provide LPG connections to 1.5 crore women from BPL households.Consumers will have the option to purchase gas stove and refills on EMI. However, state Tripura is facing acute LPG crisis due to massive black marketing but Govt here is playing a silent role.

Recently, report revealed that as Northeast does not have LPG pipeline network, thus supply of LPG is made through road transportation but for Tripura the blackers or the brokers are looting the public with double or triple price.Taking the  opportunity of the govt’s silence the black marketing as spiked up like anything.

In this situation, if the customers can utilize the process then everything  will remain data base, as with how many days gaps the customers are getting LPGs, how many LPGs will be received by a customer, all will be recorded here.
