AGARTALA, Jan 6 (TIWN): After the Central govt raised question over the incomplete works of the State PWD, drainage works has at last kicked off in Agartala’s various places in full swing. Morover, the election is nearby, so to gather the public sympathy few works have be showcased otherwise public may raise questions when CPi-M goes to beg votes from door to door. But for all these a minimum fund is needed, although the drainage works has been alleged as very low level of work is done. After embezzlement of central funds, suddenly AMC has started to collect packet-wastes from door to door. Everyday a person will collect the dustbin from houses but in return the families have to give 10 rupees, including the persons who are staying at rent. What is surprising is that AMC has made it mandatory for all that everyone has to give atleast 10 rupees whether common people give dustbin to the AMC man or not.

But officially AMC didn’t announce anything, neither it has come as in AMC Website’s notification or official letters.

Obviously question us  without any notification why AMC did this?  Moreover, whether the households will receive any receipt-copy or not it’s also under doubt.

Earlier also AMC made various plans to loot the public funds. In the performance budget (2015-16)  & outcome budget (2016-17), declared by Mayor Prafullajit Sinha it was written that, “The main fund of AMC gathers from Tax. In 2015-2016 FY, Rs. 438.26 Lakhs were gathered by AMC, whereas in 2016-17 the target is about Rs. 80 lakhs”. Thus the gap between 2 FYs seems as around Rs. 42 lakhs, which will be however a huge for Agartala residents.

Whereas the illegal Rose Valley building has been preserved fully by the Agartala Municipal Corporation, the poor people’s govt has mercilessly evicted the hawkers from Agartala town, which was that time claimed as illegal.

The Street Vendors (Protection of Livelihood and Regulation of Street Vending) Act, 2014, which is an Act of the Parliament of India enacted to regulate street vendors in public areas and protect their rights.--- was ordered to the Govt of Tripura by the High Court to follow while evicting the hawkers and to make at Agartala Hawker zone, but even after 6 months of passing of the judgment the govt didn’t take any action.

During the budget counter speech he talked about various projects ongoing and also completed project among which Mayor clamed about the almost completion of JNNURM’s Rs. 102.22 crores, which was sanctioned for Storm Water Drainage system.

But in reality there is no sign of proper drainage yet arranged in Agartala city. With a few splash of rain the city dupes into water and water logging till waist, is very common for Agartala City.
