KAMALPUR, Jan 1 (TIWN): Kamalpur police bagged a huge success against illegal foreign liquors on the first day of 2017. Police seized a vehicle along with liquors and detained two youths. It got disclosed primarily that, the liquors were being taken for Srirampore at Kamalpur from Kailasahar.
This morning Kamalpur police conducted raid acting on a tip-off. At Srirampore area police stopped a Maruti Eco bearing number TR-02-G-0657 near the TSR camp. During search, police found foreign liquors in that vehicle. Police got 60 number of whisky in 750 ml quantity and 96 numbers of vodka in 180 ml quantity. Then police nabbed two youths namely Nantu Dey and Pankaj Das. Nantu was the driver and Pankaj was his assistant. They were taken to police station. There they admitted that, the foreign liquors were sent by Prashanta Dutta of Dolugaon, Kailasahar for the house adjacent to the TSR camp. They also admitted that, they brought the consignment twice earlier.
However, it got disclosed later that, the success of police was due to a constable Rajesh Ghosh who himself was attached with the same trade. Prashanta made his vehicle with liquors detained by police years ago, so Rajesh took the revenge this time. However, commoners hoped that, police would continue the trend throughout the year.
