KORBOOK, Dec 29 (TIWN): In the face of attacks unleashed by the Modi government, the CPl(M) and the Left champions the rights of the tribal masses, said MP Jiten Choudhury in Tribal Youth Federatin's at Karbookr Sub-Divisional Conference.

The open convention attended by more than 1000 cpim supporters from all over the Sub Division was also addressed by other CPIM Local leaders. Addressing in the open masses convention, Jiten said, with Modi government assuming office the distress of the tribal masses across the country has increased. The Modi government is working against the tribal masses and women. The capitalist path of development and the constitutional safeguards for the weaker sections are contradictory to each other. That is why, between 1987-88 and 2010-11 the percentage of landless among tribals has gone up from 18 percent to 38 percent.

This government talks of skill development and mocks the tribal youth by slashing funds for tribal development. Jiten said, Modi should learn lessons from the history of tribal rebellions in India. In Tripura, despite all limitations, the Left Front government is working for the people including the tribal masses, wherever we have some strength the CPl(M) and the Left champions the rights of the tribal masses, she said. It is important to tell the younger generation about this great legacy of struggles. The organization of GMP must be further strengthened, ideologically sharpened, the youth must be included in the leadership. There should be no comprise on honesty and transparency, all the weeds should be cleansed, he said. We must take care so that the younger generations who have no experience of the dark days prior to 1978 are not misled by the divisive forces like the RSS, BJP or IPFT and INPT. He also requests all peace loving people of Tripura to keep alert over recent IPFT activities in the region for few days.

MP Jiten further appeal to build the unity of common people irrespective to caste, creed, religion and linguistic barriers to fight out the Modi Government's pro-corporate and anti people policies like recklessly opening up of agri-sector to FDI, dismantling of Public District System, attempt to withdraw reservation system in Govt. Services for ST & SCs and paving way to loot the natural resources, minerals & forests by corporate while more than one crore of ST and Traditionally Forest Dweller families are deprived from forest right under FRA.

He also express his concern on the design of the certain communal, religious fanatic and ethnic groups mainly IPFT, who are poisoning the minds of young people across the country in the name of religion, caste and colour.
