Agartala, June 5 (TIWN): The Department of School Education today laid stress on periodic inspection in schools by Inspector of Schools to ensure proper implementation of flagship schemes like the Sarva Siksha Abhiyan (SSA), Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA).

Minister for School Education Tapan Chakraborty, who chaired a review meeting on status of ongoing projects under the Department, said later this evening that discussions were held on status of SSA, RMSA implementation, progress and problems in handling the Mid-Day Meal, text books, bicycle distribution among girl students, uniform distribution among students etc.

“All officials of the Department in district level are given a specific quota of inspection visits in schools within the concerned periphery. We have stressed that the inspection visits must be maintained so that negligence can be sorted out and measures can follow henceforth”, Chakraborty added.

District level review meetings are held every six months with officials from the erstwhile undivided districts to assess progress in implementation of the flagship schemes, the minister said. He added that periodic meetings are held with Headmasters and headmasters in-charge from schools of Agartala city including Shishu Bihar Girls H/S School, Umakanta academy, Netaji Subhash Vidyaniketan etc.

“Now that the results of Madhyamik examination conducted by the Tripura Board of Secondary Education (TBSE) are out, we are expecting to hold more detailed discussions and review of progress and scopes for further progress of the Department”, the minister stated.

Chakraborty today criticized results of Madhyamik exams declared by the TBSE earlier this morning and said that the results could have been much better. “We have provided good infrastructure and facilities to the schools. The result was good and had progress in aggregate pass rate but it could have been much better”, he added.
