Kumarghat, June 1 (TIWN): With the panchayat elections approaching, the CPIM government is going all out to ensure its achievements are noticed. On Sunday, chief minister Manik Sarkar accompanied by minister Tapan Chakraborty went on a whirlwind tour of Kumarghat of Unakoti District of Tripura.
Chief minister Manik Sarkar on Sunday fulfilled the long-awaiting demand of the people of Kumarghat by inaugurating Kanchanbari Road Bridge over river Manu, Kumarghat. The 181 meter long bridge built at cost of Rs 4 crore will benefit three blocks of Kumarghat sub division.
Speaking in the occasion chief minister said the unity and concerted efforts of the Cabinet, the government officials and the people’s representatives have made possible the progress of development projects in the State. Before departing , he had a meeting at Kumarghat circuit house and reviewed the ongoing development project . He directed the officials of concerned departments to complete the work within schedule time and told not compromise on the quality of work.
Few days back the chief minister was on inauguration spree at Sonamura sub division, inaugurating number of project and next week he is schedule to inaugurate the state’s longest road bridge at Shalgarha in Udaipur sub division.
Elections for panchayats in Left-ruled Tripura would be held in July, the state election commission announced Monday. Polling would be conducted in 6,111 seats in 591 gram panchayats, 419 seats in 35 panchayat samities and 116 seats in eight zilla parishads. In all the local government bodies, 50 percent seats are reserved for women. All parties, including the Congress and the ruling Left Front led by the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) are gearing up for the polls.
