AGARTALA, June 1 (TIWN): Criticizing the diesel price increase, Minister of Transport Manik Dey of Tripura today said it was a continuation of the previous Congress-led UPA regime's " anti – people " policies and hope BJP led NDA government will rollback the hike besides seeking a new pricing regime for petro products.Transport minister speaking to TIWN, said that the diesel price hike after midnight has disappointed the people who voted BJP to power wanted growth through change. Diesel prices were hiked yesterday by 50 paise a litre, excluding state levies, the second increase in rates in three weeks.
Stating that the diesel price hike would affect all sections of people, particularly the poor and middle class, he appealed to withdraw the price hike.
The minister rejected that the hike announced by oil marketing companies (OMCs) was not correct pricing, he urged the BJP government to completely overhaul the pricing policy for petro products and wanted the Centre to determine petrol and diesel price by considering several factors including the price of imported crude and the domestic cost for its processing.
Urging the new dispensation at the Centre to rescind the authority delegated to OMCs to fix prices for petro products, she said this would help curb price rise which was due to the "wrong economic policies" of the previous UPA government
