AGARTALA, Oct 15 (TIWN): Around 1000 people gheroued Chief Minister Manik Sarkar’s residence at Mantri Bari road on Saturday protesting against the alleged attack on BJP State President Biplab Deb by CPI-M cadres on Friday late night. Biplab Deb allegedly was attacked by few miscreants who were returning after they immersed the Durga idol at Dasami Ghat. The miscreants attacked him at his Agartala residence in Natunpalli. Allegation has raised that it was not only Biplab Deb who was attacked, but they entering his house, vandalized his home. Immediately his security guard started firing on the air & later police came and control the situation. According to Biplab Deb, on last Oct 11 also some miscreants attacked in his car, when he was present inside it.Reacting to that incident BJP hit Agartala City with a protest rally and following the rally BJP supporters gheroued CM’s house at Agartala. Huge number of Police was deployed on that spot but failed to manage the situation. On the other hand allegation also came against BJP that they attacked on Police mercilessly during their protest and CPI-M has already denied to have any link with that incident.
Many claimed that it was only the club members who might have attacked on BJP President, but other parties have no link with that.
The incident occurred at 11.40 PM on Friday late-night as per Biplab’s information.
Police from West PS led by O/ C Narayan Saha immediately rushed to the spot. Other BJP members were also present during polices’ interrogation.
After the rally BJP state president held a press meet & said, that the miscreants not only attacked him, but attempted to murder him, and on that situation Deb’s security guard did 1 round firing.
On Oct 11 midnight also similar attack was held on Biplab Deb, when his wife Niti Bidrohi was also with him. He met police alleging against this and on that night itself the brutal attack held on him.
However, BJP was alleging since 1 year about the increasing attack upon their party members and now this incident has increased more resentment among the BJP supporters in state.
Moreover, on the occasion of auspicious Laxmi Puja, such clashes on the heart of Agartala City created much tension among the public.
