AGARTALA, Sep 21 (TIWN): Tripura Urban Development Minister Manik Dey on Tuesday chairing as the Chief Guest of AMC organized Dipa Karmakar’s felicitation programme, claimed high about Tripura Govt.’s struggle & attempts for emerging sports starts of state, but he ended the felicitation programme by giving a flower bouquet. However, on the same day UCO bank gifts Dipa & her coach Rs. 5 lakhs each of them.

Whereas TMC West Bengal leaders although for political aim, but honoured Dipa by going to her own residence gifting her a Golden Chain, but Tripura CPI-M Govt. via its various branches organizaing separate-separate programmes focusing on Dipa Karmakar’s Olympic achievement, to propagate the party & to bring the party’s Old faces in a single frame with Khel Ratna Dipa.

Question arises, so many programmes are held on Dipa Karmakar but Tripura Govt. saying it as a poor govt. does not give any cash award to Dipa. But if the Govt. wanted, then staying away from organizaing so many programmes for Dipa Karmakar, Govt could save the money & gift it to her. But the Ministers are ready to give so much time for a felicitation programme & to hold long speeches but never reserves any money for her.

The programme was held at town-hall Agartala, where AMC Mayor Prafullajit Sinha, Urban Development Minister Manik Dey were present.

Other states as Telengana, Madhya Pradesh are giving Dipa cash & free training, but Tripura govt claiming itself as a poor Govt. didn’t give anything yet------although the same govt. is spoiling lakhs by organizing felicitation programmes.

Urban Development Minister Manik Dey who is begging for 90:10 proportion of funding is acceptable for Modi Govt's SMART City project after Agartala was selected under the 13 top urban cities which has been miserably failed in his every departments including Power, Transport & Urban Development. But minister claimed high during his speech by slamming the Central, whereas it was the Central Govt. who gave recognition to Dipa first.

Becoming a world-level sports star, Tripura girl Dipa Karmakar has achieved a lot in her 22 years of age amidst poor Tripura Sports Infrastructure. Her 16-17 year long hard-work, determination have lifted Dipa to touch the final round in Olympic – 2016. But Tripura Govt. took years to give her any recognition.
