AGARTALA, Sep 9 (TIWN): Before increasing the property tax CPI-M led Agartala Municipal Corporation had never thought twice, but year after year various projects which have lied dead in Agartala, never bothered Manik Sarkar at all. In the name of Plantation, Drain, Footpath funds were allocated every year, but with the broken & narrow roads the Garbage-City has remained as it is without any progess.

During the last budget counter speech AMC Mayor Prafullajit Sinha claimed about various developmental projects ongoing. Mayor claimed about the almost completion of JNNURM’s Rs. 102.22 crores, which was sanctioned for Storm Water Drainage system.

But due to massive corruption held by AMC, with few splashes of rain, the town goes under water for many hours.Moreover, in the name of plantation also funds were allocated, and footpath have been a long controversial issue for Agartala.

Whereas due to lack of footpath facilities, public face everyday traffic jam, but there is no to finish the work.

The plantation project around Howrah river bank died before the project was started.

West DM Millind Ramteke took  a note of the roads around Sukanta Academy area, and also various other spots in the City.

In the name of SMART City the CPI-M govt. wanted to grab huge amounts from Central, but when central govt. asked all the states to share the 50 : 50 part of the SMART City project the state govt. started to blame BJP led central govt. But what about those funds, which have been wasted without any development under the blessing of AMC?

PM Modi’s 98,000 crores Urban development project reels under corruption in Tripura Left-front Era, SMART City mission is also becoming a dream for Agartala. Whereas Agartala city is aimed convert into a SMART City in future, but it has remained as one of the most ‘Garbage-dumping-ground.

Under Manik Sarkar’s regime another example of Tripura’s Golden Era is the Municipal Council’s cleanliness management skill across the Agartala city. The whole city is hit with dirty smells, garbage beside the road and resulting into unhygienic condition.

Such negligence of the Municipal corporation is prominent especially urban areas.

Maximum town areas are left without dustbin and people are using the drains as the alternative of dustbin, resulting  into overflowing drains.
