Unending fuel crisis turned life miserable : ‘200 vehicles to arrive Tuesday, regularly 300 vehicles are coming on average with lot of fuel tankers via NHC : DM North talks to TIWN

AGARTALA / CHURAIBARI, Aug 3 (TIWN): Tripura is still reeling under massive fuel crisis since last 2 months yet with no respite. On Tuesday full day also across the state thousand vehicles were visible before petrol pumps amidst 34 degree Celsius heat.

However, talking to North DM Sandeep Mahatme over phone regarding the condition of Churaibari Check-post area’s road renovation, he said, “Both the roads are in good shape and  vehicles are coming by  both the ways”.

“Atleast 300 vehicles arrived on Monday and around 200 more vehicles to arrive within Tuesday night”, he said.

About the fuel importing status he said, “Lot of fuel tankers are coming in state by the alternative roadway, which belongs to Tripura part”.

Everyday average 300 to 400 vehicles are expecting to arrive, he added.

However, although DM informed about the entering of lot of tankers, still the crisis is yet to end in the mainland. In this scorching heat people are standing in long lines.

It’s worthy to mention here that due to the monsoon the Assam road renovation is progressing slow. However, the one side of the road has been recovered to pass the vehicles from there. After the one side has been completed at Lowairpoa road around 400 vehicles are coming in state. However, presently tankers are given the basic priority although the  movement of vehicles are slow yet.

For the temporary renovation of National Highway on Tripura part recently Rs. 50 lakhs have been sanctioned to the North DM to buy the materials for Churaibari Check area”.

The ongoing fuel crisis and commodity price hike have made the life tough for public in Tripura. Whereas in day time people are busy in office from early morning around 4 AM they are waiting in queues for 1 litre petrol.

Petrol distribution system is however different for various subdivisions. In Agartala people are getting not more than Rs. 60’s fuel but at other subdivisions they are getting more than 2 litre of fuel.

In this condition the renovation of National Highway (Temporarily) on Tripura’s part is underway. The condition of National Highway says that the drivers are must be expert otherwise normal people can not drive in that way.
