Agartala/Sonamura , Jul 27, 2016(TIWN) : CM inaugurated 67 State level Banamohutsav at Barnarayan HS School under Sonamura Sub Division.During the inauguration programme Forest Minister Naresh Jamatia,Sports Minister Sahid Choudhury and other MLA ,DM Sipahijala , Forest Officials planted sapling. A total of Three thousand saplings were planted during the inaugural ceremony.
CM while speaking in the occasion said” Mahotsav which was started as a crusade with a lofty purpose to save the earth will be observed with plantation of saplings in various schools and Anganwadi of the area. Van Mahotsava is an annual tree planting festival in the month of July.
During this festival thousand of trees are planted all over India. In 1950, it was started by K. M. Munshi, the Union Minister for Agriculture and Food at that time.
It was started to create awareness in the mind of the people for the conservation of forests and planting of new trees.
