AGARTALA, July 25 (TIWN): Whereas the Central govt. is pushing states to implement strictly the anti-tobacco laws on the other hand Tripura shop-keepers openly selling tobaccos in shops. Apart from selling of Tobaccos in shops there are many secret sources very known to the spoiling-young generation . But all these activities have remained unchecked in Tripura.

On Monday, Health & Family Welfare Principal Secretary has given lectures on various rules, guidelines for Tobacco use, selling and taxes. But all the guidelines of Central Ministry is just for name-sake as Tripura has witnessing rampant increasing drug-selling, and illegal tobacco cultivation.

In an awareness programme held at Pragna Bhawan on Monday it was said to prohibit the advertisement of and provide for the regulation of trade and commerce in production, and to impose rules for supplying and distribution of cigarettes and other tobacco products.

But in reality Tripura has been a safe transit hub for the trade of narcotic drugs for some time, and a significant number of cases related to trafficking of hashish oil and ganja are being registered here.

Also, the number of youngsters, including college students, using narcotic drugs has increased in the recent past.

However, it’s worthy to mention here that Ganja, drug although illegal in India, but so much available in Tripura with much cheaper price, spoiling the generations, causing cancer and damaging the society from the grass-wood level.

Sonamura subdivison has remained under control of massive Ganja production, resulting number of increasing smuggling and selling of intoxicated items in cheaper price across the state.

In Tripura massive brown sugar, corex, drug business is so much rampant that all these awareness camps do not matter at all to anyone in reality.

One after one after one cases are revealing where people are caught with brown sugar smuggling and apart from them many businessmen are openly selling drugs.

Northern part of Tripura has hit with continuous drug smuggling. While 30th Assam Rifles Btln, under P S Damchara at Dhalai Dist.has booked 2 person red-handed while circulating fake notes worths 1 lakh on July 20th, and the arrestees are connected with fake note racket between Assam-Mizoram and Tripura-Aizwal.

They are resident of Nepal Tilla under Dhalai District and Assam rifle Jawans recovered 1000 rupees notes worths Rs. 1 lakhs but all were fakes. Already case has been registered with Under Section 489/ C/ Damchara P S / Case No-12/16. They Reangs belong to Mizo based Bru.

Then, 4 culprits from Mizoram-Silchar border, in allegation of sending drugs to Tripura & other Northeastern states. Along with the arrested Police also recovered 8 syringes of drug samples, 102 blank syringes, 340 gram of brown sugar and Rs. 8,000/-. The name of the 4 arrestees are : 1) Amanyaual (23), 2) Richard Lalbe Moughta (24), 3) Laldin Jera (24), 4) Mingchung Nanga (27). Reportedly, a Silchar-Agartala train bearing number 05665 had reached till Panisagar at 5 PM on Thursday, via which they sent brown sugar to Tripura.  They were nabbed from BhajaBazar, Silchar-Mizoram Border areas. Allegedly this four young boys are engaged in sending drugs via a train on Thursday to Tripura.

However, in this way North Tripura along with Sonamura border (In Sepahijala Dist.) are developing as Terrorist-hub as the border there remained unchecked.

In this situation the anti-tobacco awareness how far will work in reality it’s to be seen.
