AGARTALA, July 16 (TIWN): Completing the tenure of 3days of police remand, rapist Panna was once again produced before the court on Saturday for further hearing, confirmed a source in West police station.

Defence lawyer is likely to appeal for the bail petition of Panna on Saturday. Before even hearing of the case, defence lawyer is planning for the bail plea of rapist Panna Ahmed. It appears that just to escape punishment from the hand of law Defence lawyer is already planning to appeal for his bail from the court.

According to the source, police produced the rapist before the court seeking police remand for another term as further interrogation is needed to crack the case.  

It is to be mentioned here that Tripura Lower court on Wednesday sent rapist Panna Ahmed to 3 days of police remand after he has raped a mother of 2 child on June 26.  He was again produced  before the court on Saturday.

After a struggle of almost 3 weeks, Karimganj police on Tuesday arrested the rapist Panna Ahmed who was on run after raping a mother of 2 child in Tripura on last June 26.

According to the source of police, Panna Ahmed was arrested on Tuesday from Shivbari road under Karimganj District with the joint collaboration of Tripura police personnel Manoj Chanda of Dharmanagar and Karimganj Police.

Reportedly, Panna was arrested with the inputs on secret information at 1pm from shivbari road and was brought to Tripura on Wednesday.

However, it is to be mentioned here that allegations have been raised against the former SDM of Sonamura for raping a mother of two sons in his own residence near western club and yet CPI-M is silent. Apart from raping the women he has also threatened the victim after he was posted as the joint Director of Youth and sports affairs. The victim further said that she came to meet Panna Ahmed at his home in search of rent at Agartala Ramnagar. Taking advantage of situation, Panna Ahmed tortured her, beaten her and then raped her for hours.

Reportedly, Panna Ahmed was also the former SDM of Sonamura subdivision where he ruled for years  to provide support to smugglers and ganja cultivators  .

IPC Section 506 FIR was lodged against Panna Ahmed in West Women Police Station, and after almost 3 weeks police succeeded in arresting Panna from Karimganj.
