AGARTALA, May 29 (TIWN): Amidst a storm of controversy related to TBSE result scam and Income Tax(IT) notice to 5 heavyweight MLAs including two colleagues in Honest CM Manik Sarkar's Cabinet CPI-M State Committee's two day long meeting held in party's headquarters in Melarmath on Thursday . It ended in the evening of Friday after which Manik Sarkar scheduled for Delhi to attend CPI-M Politbureau meet. This two day long state committee is said to be very crucial because of the landslide defeat of CPI-M in West Bengal assembly poll even after forming alliance with Congress forgetting party's ideology as well as the party's decision taken in Party Congress to keep same distance from Congress and BJP as far as forming electoral alliance is concerned. Indeed , Manik Sarkar led LF Gov't has been facing acute challenges from all corners , be it judiciary , irregularities in recruitment , TBSE result scam , trend of growing corruption in all aspects even among a large section of his party members. According to political analysts ," BJP's win in Assam Assembly poll has sent a clear message to all that BJP is gradually but steadily finding its foothold in the north eastern region.

When the party's influential lobby in state committee made the platform ready to discuss about West Bengal poll debacle and Tripura unit's Stand against this so called seat sharing or alliance with Congress, CPI-M party especially the influential lobby headed by Manik Sarkar received a jolt as the IT sent notices to 5 heavyweight MLAs including Forest & RD Minister Naresh Jamatia and Science & Technology Minister Bijita Nath , famous for her link with Rose Valley as well as three other MLAs including Keshab Debbarma.

A heavyweight CPI-M leader (unwilling to reveal his name) while speaking to this correspondent on Friday night did not hide his anxiety saying ," At present corruption in all sectors has become a nightmare for Manik Sarkar . People , though numbers are few, have started to doubt about his honesty . From the reshuffling of port folios ( when Badal Choudhury was removed from Finance Ministry simply to protect Bimal Chakraborty ) in Cabinet to recent TBSE Result scam and IT notice to 5 MLAs everywhere Manik Sarkar is losing his image as an honest man .

Again after the party's win in Kerala it is certain that party's Tripura unit especially Manik Sarkar won't so much importance that he used to get since 2011. "

There is no denying of the fact that Pinarai Vijayan will be given more importance ahead of Manik Sarkar not only because of the influence of Kerala lobby but also because of Kerala's importance in 2019 Lok Sabha Poll (Kerala has 20 Lok Sabha seats ).

Thus, it is going to be a worried situation for Manik Sarkar after being projected as the party's poster man of honesty at the national level . Moreover, if Manik Sarkar raises the issue of West Bengal poll debacle , his anti-lobby wont lose any time to raise issue of " Manik's 3rd kid comment " as well his failure to control corruption and irregularities in administration as well as within the party.

A highly placed source in Melarmath told TIWN ," Had anyone made such comment like the 3rd kid , he would have been expelled from the party instantly. Even Late Nripen Chakraborty was expelled from the party not because of his anti-party activity but because of his comment Jyoti Basu( most influential leader of the party then ) and his son . But Manik Sarkar is lucky that he enjoys the blessings of Karat lobby , undoubtedly the strongest group in the CPI-M . As such he is still the supreme in Tripura. "

It is learnt that all state committee members have been strictly warned by the party's core committee not to raise any issue that may create debate among the members. Actually party was aware that many of the members might raise issues like IT notice to Ministers and MLAs , TBSE result scam that have damaged party's image very badly among the common people.

But taking a U turn Bijan Dhar already remarked that at present BJP  and RSS are the threats to the integrity between the tribals and the non-tribals .

And Modi's Act East Policy is mainly responsible for it. Even Tripura is a beneficiary of Act East Policy as development in railway and Rao transport has found a new dimension in the NE region under Modi's regime. Certainly BJP will like to strengthen its belt in Tripura too.

And as such BJP President Amit Shah has spread promised state BJP President Biplab Deb to give all kinds of assistance to BJP to power in Tripura in the 2018 Assembly poll. "  Moreover, Trinamool Congress too will make re-entry in Tripura ; this time with much strength sending a tough challenge to CPI-M.

Thus, the two day long state meeting of CPI-M is not about making the party stronger but to plan a strategy for damage control because of the continuos jolts that the party is facing these days from all corners. CPI-M will never like idea of BJP and TMC getting closer especially ahead of 2018.
