AGARTALA, April 27 (TIWN): The Union Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) secretary Naveen Verma who arrived in the state on Tuesday last reviewed all the central sponsored development projects at Agartala on Wednesday. Sources said that the DoNER secretary visited the Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhawan and review the ongoing construction work of the fly-over of the city. It is to be mentioned here that Union Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) secretary Naveen Verma also visited Agartala Government Medical College (AGMC) and GBP Hospital, Mutha Industries Limited and viewed the ongoing developmental projects the previous day.Later, he joined the officials of the Planning Commission in a meeting held at state’s Civil Secretariat. Chief Secretary YP Singh, special secretaries and officials of different departments were also present in the meeting. After that, he also held a meeting with Chief Minister Manik Sarkar.

Reportedly, Naveen Verma, who arrived here from Guwahati, has been entrusted to visit the northeastern states to review the ongoing developmental works. 

During his visit, he reportedly stressed on the skill developmental programme and said that the Central government has hiked fund from the existing one for proper implementation of the programme in the northeastern states.

As Prime Minister Narendra Modi In the last year, the state government launched Skill Development Programme to train as many as 1, 465 unemployed youths replicating Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Skill India Mission.

Official sources said, as per schedules, Naveen Verma also visited the ILFS’s multi-skill development training school and Budhjungnagar industrial growth centre, where Mr Verma will also visit bamboo made floor tiles factory.

While returning from Budhjungnagar, Mr Verma also monitors the programmes of a Northeast Rural Livelihood project at Champamura area of Agartala.

It is to be mentioned here that he is scheduled to leave the state on Wednesday from the state for New Delhi where he will likely present a detailed report of his observation in the entire northeastern states to the Ministry.

Secretary of the Union Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), Naveen Verma arrived in the state for visit on Tuesday.

The 1982 batch IAS officer of Bihar cadre, Navin Verma, Special Secretary, and Cabinet Secretariat has been appointed as Secretary in the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region vice R. VijayKumar who retired on September 31, 2015.

Navin Verma, Special Secretary in Cabinet Secretary, has been named as Secretary in Ministry for Development of North Eastern Region.
