AGARTALA, April 15 (TIWN): Although charge sheet is filed but police is yet mum over the issue of arresting MGNREGA scam kingpin Bimal Chakraborty and even after passage of years the scamstar is roaming free. After months of the scam came into limelight, the main accused BDO Bimal Chakraborty is yet roaming free and it seems police is busy in filing all bailable section of IPC to save the blue eyed boy of Manik. It is to be mentioned here that 39 charge sheets are file so far and it also includes the kingpin Scamster BDO Bimal Chakraborty. In a drive to save the prime accused Bimal Chakraborty and also to earn good name to fool the public in the name of filing charge sheet just few bailable actions are charged against him and police so far did not take any action. Now question arise, if charge sheet is filled than why no action is taken against the accused. The opposition Congress had earlier demanded CBI enquiry into the multicrore rupee scam but the state government ordered CID enquiry into the case.The failure of the CID and the police, both of which are under the control of Home Ministry of CM Manik Sarkar whose patronage to scam accused Bimal Chakrabortry was always under scanner gives much suspicion on the nature and integrity of the enquiry of the case. And taking the advantage, Manik is still successful in saving him.

It may be mentioned here that under tremendous pressure from all corners and wide spread media publication on the Rs. 17 crore MGNREGA scam, BDO Bishalgarh RD Block Subrata Das had lodged the FIR against the then BDO of the block Bimal Chakraborty in Bishalgarh police station.

Reportedly, a CBI inquiry was demanded into the alleged financial irregularity of Rs 17 crore in the Bishalgarh Block Development Office of Tripura in 2013.

It is to be mentioned here that demanding CBI inquiry a PIL was filed against the Bishalgarh MGNREGA scam where FIR was lodged by Bishalgarh Block Development Officer (BDO) against 12 officials including former BDO of the block –Bimal Chakraborty. Bimal was arrested last year but recently, walked out free from the judicial custody as police failed to submit charge sheet against him.

However, during the interim session of hearing the public prosecutors failed to answers to the question which reported serious embezzlement in the in the blocks.  

The scamstar Bimal Chakraborty belongs to a powerful CPI-M family of the state and close to chief minister Manik Sarkar. His elder brother Amal Chakraborty is CPI-M youth wing DYFI’s Secretary.
