AGARTALA, April 3 (TIWN): After the collapse of under construction flyover in Kolkata has speared wide resentment in Tripura, maintaining the quality of the work has become more essential as it is one of the risk zones where a minor fault can take several lives.

It is to be mentioned here that seeing that recent status of the Tripura flyover construction question arises like, is the quality of the work maintained, and is modern technology used in the construction and many more.

Localites alleged that the kolkata disaster can also happen in Tripura due to the alleged Lack of proper planning, delays, lacunae in design and bad tendering may trigger accident in the under-construction flyover at Tripura.

Phasing of construction and time and use of materials are interlocked. If these things are not done on time, then construction like these which are exposed to weather becomes very risky.

"They have a time schedule and you cannot delay with these projects. You need proper planning and you can't play with human lives," a common man alleged after reacting over the status of the flyover construction work at Battala.

Expressing concern over the quality of construction and tendering practices, people said that It should be based on experience and shouldn't be simply handed over to a firm which quotes the lowest price.

Chief minister Manik Sarkar laid the foundation stone of the 2.25km flyover, which will stretch from the police line in southern Agartala to fire brigade chowmuhuni (square) in the heart of the city.

The two-lane flyover would have a width of 8m and the cost of its construction would be Rs 250 crore, at the current prices. The flyover will be completed in 30 months which stands around 2.5 years. However it is important to finish the work in the given deadline.

The project has gone to Hyderabad-based Nagarjuna Construction Company Limited through a national tender.  It is alleged that they are   black listed company but why the construction work is given to such company question arises. ,

At present there are 3.20 lakh motor vehicles of various categories in the state and parking has become a major problem in the state capital. The rush of people to Agartala is also difficult to tackle unless we have smooth movement of people and vehicles, this flyover will ease traffic congestion.
