AGARTALA, Feb 28 (TIWN): Minister for Tourism Ratan Bhowmik on Sunday inaugurated the 3rd Triennial General Conference of ATH and ROA at Agartala.
During the programme, it has been mentioned that the association has placed deputation to Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Dr. Prafullajit Sinha and the other concern officials protesting against the rise in the fees of the trade licence.
Besides, they also mentioned that after prolonged demands to reduce the fees of the trade licence, no initiatives have been taken. Therefore, the association has visited AMC Mayor on February 23 last. The association is hoping that the concern authority will look in to their demands.
Speaking about the details, the members have mentioned that at present the fees of the trade licences is Rs. 2500, for small hotels Rs. 5000 and Rs. 10, 000 for others which according to the traders is very high.
However, the members were urged that without the no objection certificate from the veteran members no new employees will be appointed.
Besides, it has been mentioned that the present number of members of this association is around 50. Among them some hotels are built new.
It has been mentioned that as the central government did not change the GST law resulting in the month of February State Government has collected 15 percent Luxury tax in place of 10 percent tax.
However, raising protest over the issue the members of the association has placed deputation about it to Finance Minister, Tourism Minister, Finance Commissioner and sales tax commissioner.
During the programme, President Niranjan Saha, General Secretary Kanti Deb, Vice-President Dilip Roy, Executive Members Swapan Saha and others were also present.
