AGARTALA, Feb 27 (TIWN): Counting of votes of the Village Committee election has begun in 52 centres on Saturday.
Reportedly, under the observation of the multi-layered security the counting of vote has begun from morning 8am.
According to the sources reports, at the primary stage of the counting it has been witnessed that left is ahead from the other political parties.
It is to be mentioned here that the counting is undergoing for 528 village committees on 3, 695 seats.
Besides, the left front has already won by 902 seats of 58 village committees before the election itself as for those seats there were no opposition to contest the election.
It is to be mentioned here that the village committee election was conducted on February 24 at 1262 polling stations.
Besides, re-polling was conducted on February 26 at 2 village committees, Jampui and Charilam which includes four seats.
During the re-polling in two village committees, a total of 84.15 percent of votes have been recorded on February 27 with the report of no untoward incidents.
Talking to TIWN correspondent, Deputy State Election Commission Secretary Tamal Majumder on Friday mentioned that altogether 89.6 percent has been recorded in the village committee election at Jampui where as Charilam has a record of 78.7 percent of votes.
It is to be mentioned here that the re-polling of Village Committee Election has been conducted in two village committee of Jampui and Charilam.
Reportedly, election has been conducted in two village committee which includes Bangshibari ADC village (ward number 2, 3, 4) and Longtrai ADC village (ward number- 7).
However, polling at Bongshi Bari under Charilam Block has been conducted in Rangapalia School.
A total of 6, 45,840 voters have exercises their franchise in the elections. Of the total, 3, 26,931 are male whereas the rest 3, 18,909 are female voters.
On February 24, a total of 85 percent of vote has been recorded.
Besides, multi-layered security has been observed in all the concern areas to avoid any untoward incidents and to conduct the counting process peacefully and fair.
