AGARTALA, Feb 26 (TIWN): One-day long workshop on Collection of Municipal Revenue and Taxes has been organized on Fridayat city centre.

The programme was organized with the initiatives of the Urban Development Department.

During the programme, the dignitaries have urged the participant to pay the tax on time so that the department can utilize the collected tax for the development of the state.

Stressing over the paying of tax on time, it has been mentioned that if any public do not pay their tax on time than it become very tough for the department to conduct any kind of developmental work on time.

Besides, the officials were urged to take proper initiatives to increase the number of registered businessman which will assist the state to increase the collection of Tax. The officials were also urged to aware the public about the importance of Tax for the development of any area.

Besides, the officials should also make the public understand the value of paying tax on time and to make the area developed.

It is to be mentioned here that tax is being imposed on any kind of individual as an employee or a self employed, or a corporation engaged in commercial activity. The amount of taxation depends on the type of income and the person or the organization earning the income. The tax collection in India has to follow several norms specified under the Income tax act of India.

The tax is calculated under different heads of income such as salary head of income, house property head of income, profit in business or profession head of income, capital gains head of income, and other sources head of income.

During the programme, Urban Minister Manik Dey has inaugurated the programme in the presence of Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Dr. Prafullajit Sinha and other dignitaries were also present.
