Re-polling conducted in two village committees: 40 percent of vote recorded till 1 pm

AGARTALA, Feb 26 (TIWN): Re-polling of the village committee election conducted on Friday has observed 40 percent of vote till 1 pm at two village committee.

Reportedly, election has been conducted in two village committee which includes Bangshibari ADC village (ward number 2, 3, 4) and Longtrai ADC village (ward number- 7).

However, polling at Bongshi Bari under Charilam Block has been conducted ain Rangapalia School.

It is to be mentioned here that till 1pm the percentage of vote was 40 percent and it is expected that the percentage will increase more by the end.

Besides, it has been mentioned that till now no reports of any untoward incidents has been observed in the concern area. So far polling is underway peacefully in both the village committee.

However, the village committee election is suppose to end by February 24 but due to some issue re-polling has been conducted Friday.

It is to be mentioned here that this year left front has already grabbed 59 village committees and won 902 seats without contesting any votes. Therefore, this year village committee election has been contested in 528 village committees for 3, 695 seats.

A total of 6, 45,840 voters would exercise their franchise in the elections. Of the total, 3, 26,931 are male whereas the rest 3, 18,909 are female voters.

However, during the village committee election altogether 1262 polling stations has been set up on February 24.

Keeping eye on the election, strict vigilance has been observed at the over tribal dominated and interior areas of Tripura for the elections on Friday.

Besides, multi-layered security has been observed in front of the strong rooms as on February 27 counting will be conducted.

Besides, the State Government has asked the Border Security Force (BSF) to maintain maximum vigil along the India-Bangladesh border to foil any intrusion attempt from across the border.
