AGARTALA, Feb 26 (TIWN): Despite of demarcating several border areas, State Government is least bothered to complete the border fencing as soon as possible.

Reportedly, several border areas of the South District and North District are yet to be fenced. Though areas are demarcated but till day no initiative has been taken to commence in the fencing work.

Due to no fencing in the area, the locals residing over there has been suffering from illegal intrusion through the unfenced areas.

Besides, the areas are hit with rampant smuggling, as there are no fencing has been done the miscreants easily crosses the border area.

However, the rampant smuggling at the non-fencing area seems the area does not get kind of strict vigilance.

With the delay in the fencing work in various areas resentment brews amongst the locals as they are suffering from illegal intrusion through the non-fencing area.

It has been prolonged many days that the smuggling of cow has been going on but no initiative has been taken to curb the rising smuggling in the area, complained the locals.

A section of people alleged that due to the under table connection between police and smugglers the police are not doing anything to stop the smuggling of Phensedyl and contraband items.

However, the locals of the area mentioned that the despite of BSF are keeping vigilance in the area smuggling continues. They further mentioned that until and unless the border area are fenced the smuggling will continue.

On the other hand, question arises despite of strict vigilance in the area by the BSF why the area are hit smuggling. Allegation has been raised by the locals that BSF may have under desk relation with the miscreants.

However, though the state government has demarcated the area for fencing but till day various areas are hit with the smuggling of various goods as yet today no initiatives are being taken to construct the border fence.
